Centre is a design office. Its work focuses on identity and creative direction for people, institutions and brands guiding the trajectory of contemporary culture.

 

Yoshihisa Tanaka

Founder of Centre Inc. / Member of a Alliance Graphique Internationale and Japan Graphic DesignAssociation Inc. / Part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts.

Born in Shizuoka, Japan in 1980. Yoshihisa Tanaka graduated from the Department of Scenography, Space and Fashion Design at Musashino Art University and completed a Master’s degree in Policy and Media at Keio University Graduate School of Media and Governance. In 2022, he founded centre Inc.
Through collaborations with public institutions, educational organizations, and private companies, he researches and implements contemporary design practices by expanding the possibilities of visual language within printed media. His major projects include visual identity programs for the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, the 58th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, TOKYO ATLAS International Art Exhibition, Aichi Triennale 2022, POST, and TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR, as well as art direction for Takeo Paper Show and ISSEY MIYAKE.

Tanaka is also active as a member of the artist duo Nerhol. Major solo exhibitions include Turning the Horizon at Chiba City Museum of Art, Sowing Seeds and Crows: Misreading Righteousness at the Museum of Modern Art, Saitama, Beyond the Way at the Leonora Carrington Museum (Mexico), Index at Foam Photography Museum (Amsterdam), and Promenade at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa.

In 2025, Nerhol received the New Artist Award from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology at the 75th Minister of Education’s Art Encouragement Prizes.

centre Inc.ではグラフィックデザイン領域を中心に、美術館などの施設や芸術祭等のVI計画、企業の文化的価値創造のお手伝いをしてきました。また多くの作家の作品集を制作してきた知見・経験から、出版、流通、ギャラリーなどの運営も行っております。

業務内容:

視覚言語におけるデザイン領域のリサーチ及び社会実装。展覧会や芸術祭のVI計画。ブランドや企業のアートディレクション。作品集を中心としたブックデザイン、他。

 

応募資格・待遇:

<実務経験者>

紙媒体を中心としたアートディレクション、

カタログ&ブックデザイン、エディトリアルデザイン、

または施設や店舗におけるサイン計画の実務経験2年以上

給与:22万円~50万円(能力により決定)

英語が堪能な方優遇

 

<新卒または実務経験2年未満>

美術系の大学・専門学校卒業の方、実務経験2年未満の方

給与:20万円~。

InDesign、Illustrator、Photoshop などのソフトを使える方、英語が堪能な方優遇

 

試用期間:

応募される方にはトライアル制度を設けています(期間中は、有期契約社員)。3カ月の期間中、各月ごとに面談を行い、応募者と弊社の双方が納得するかたちで待遇を決定します。

昇給:原則、年に1回。交通費支給。休日 :土日祝、お盆休暇、年末年始

Route
From Shinjuku Station
Take Keio New Line (direction Hashimoto), Keio New Line (direction Sakurajosui) and step off at Keio Line Sasazuka Station. From there it is a five minute walk to centre studio.

 

Parking
You can park your car at Coinpark ‘Sasazuka’ or on the parking in front of our studio.
