This book was published to coincide with the exhibition held at The Museum of Modern Art, Saitama. The box contains five art books reproducing the works of four participating artists and one artist pair in printed form, along with a booklet documenting the exhibition. Reflecting the theme of the exhibition, “Materiality of Photography,” the books emphasize materiality to align with the uniqueness of each artist.

Daisuke Yokota’s “Untitled (Room/Reflection),” a double-sided artwork printed on PVC, is reproduced on transparent film to capture its size ratio and texture, and is bound with a ring.

Hiroshi Takizawa’s “The Scene (Berlin),” based on an image reflected in a mirror and graffiti on the mirror itself, is reinterpreted as a zine using mirrored paper.

Takashi Makino’s “still in cosmos,” constructed from multi layers of video footage, recreates its circular structure and narrative through an accordion fold.

Sako Tepei’s “Poor, Video, Anytime God,” is transformed into a vertical-format zine that follows the structure of social media. The intention was to express his work in the form of a book, in which he uploads 10 snapshots taken on the same day to the media.

Nerhol’s work uses only close-up images of surfaces that reveal a sense of materiality, creating a zine that appears to contemplate the layering of paper and time itself
